International Day of Older Persons
Oct 1 from 12-5pm
at Guidon Brewery

The Council on Aging for Henderson County (COAHC) is dedicated to our aging adult community by providing high-quality care and resources.

We are excited to announce that this fall, we are launching a new event, the first annual 2022 International Day of Older Persons event and COAHC Silent Auction! International Day of Older Persons is celebrated on October 1 every year.

The day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of older adults in our society and to appreciate their contributions. Our elders carry a lot of responsibility on their shoulders as leaders of our communities. They also carry the traditions, and culture of our community, and pass on the knowledge to the younger generation.

However, older people are also highly vulnerable, with many falling into poverty, facing health issues, or discrimination. They also sometimes face abuse, which has a detrimental impact on them.

The COAHC is dedicated to helping support any and all needs that may arise for our elders, but we need funds to develop our Support Services Department so that we may not only continue helping our elders navigate through their next phase in life but build new programs and resources that will ensure they are living the best quality of life they can.

The day is marked to put focus on the world’s responsibilities towards older people to make their lives happier but it is also a day for the COAHC to honor our community and raise funds to support it.”
